Toll Roads
Disabled drivers and disabled passengers whose vehicles are tax exempt under the Drivers and Passengers with Disabilities Tax Relief Scheme are exempt from tolls on each toll road in the state. Under the eflow system in operation on the M50 toll bridge, as you drive under the eFlow gantry on the M50, the photographic equipment will detect your vehicle registration number and recognise that you should not be charged.

On all the other toll roads the toll road operators issue special passes to facilitate such exempt passage. Passes issued by any one operator will be accepted by all other toll road operators.

Passenger Assistance (Regulation EC 1107 / 2006)

From 26th July 2008, under Regulation EC 1107 / 2006, managing bodies of airports have legal responsibility for the provision of assistance services to persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air. The Regulation defines a person with reduced mobility (PRM) as any person whose mobility is reduced due to physical incapacity (sensory or locomotory), an intellectual deficiency, age, illness, or any other cause of disability when using transport and whose situation needs special attention and the adaptation to a person’s needs of the service made available to all passengers.

Dublin Airport Authority have appointed One Complete Solution Ltd (OCS) to provide the assistance services to PRMs as set out under Annex 1 of this Regulation, these services are:

  • Enable passenger to communicate their arrival at the airport and their request for assistance at the designated points inside and outside terminal buildings
  • Move from designated point to the check-in counter
  • Check-in and register baggage
  • Proceed from check-in counter to the aircraft, with completion of emigration, customs and security procedures
  • Board the aircraft, with the provision of lifts, wheelchairs or other assistance needed as appropriate
  • Proceed from the aircraft to the baggage hall and retrieve baggage, with completion of immigration and customs procedures
  • Proceed from the baggage hall to the designated point of departure
  • Reach connecting flights when in transit, with assistance on the airside and landside

Notification (48 Hours in advance)
In order that the most effective e service is delivered to passengers who require these services, persons with reduced mobility should contact and notify their airline, travel agent or tour operator with details of their assistance requirements at least 48 hours in advance of the departure of their flight. It is very important that they contact their airline, travel agent or tour operator directly as their onward travel may be affected otherwise by the safety rules an air carrier applies to the carriage of persons with reduced mobility.
