Independent Councillor Geraldine Donohue welcomes the audit of Disabled Parking Bays in Gort Town by Galway County Council following a deputation to the Loughrea Municipal District by Peter Gohery and Martin Moran last June where both men spoke of the various issues in the Loughrea Municipal District which creates difficulties for persons with disabilities, one of the issues raised related to parking facilities.

The towns of Loughrea and Portumna have been audited over the summer and Cllr Donohue was delighted to arrange for a similar audit be carried out on Gort Town with a view to have disabled parking bays upgraded and made more accessible.

Councillor Donohue states that it is very important that persons with disabilities are consulted when plans are prepared to provide facilities for persons living with a disability and thanked Galway County Council, Peter and Martin for their time on this important matter.

L-R Peter Gohery Chairperson of Galway Disability Forum & National Chair of Physical Impairment Ireland, Councillor Geraldine Donohue, Martin Moran Disabled Drivers Association Director, Michael Duane and Niall Kennedy Galway County Council Officials.
